App of The Week: Synkers, A Tutoring App for Students

I am starting a series of weekly posts to showcase new talents, cool apps, as well as innovative products and solutions. I am kicking off the series with a local tutoring app.

Synkers is a mobile app that instantaneously connects university or high-school students seeking help in a particular course to tutors. The teachers on the platform are either professional instructors or peers who previously aced a specific course. All the selected tutors go through a screening process to ensure credibility and quality.

Students can find and book a qualified tutor in less than 30 seconds based on their preferences; such as rating, reviews, experience, etc.

Talented students or teachers can apply to become tutors and have the chance to earn some extra money.

The people behind the app are Audrey Nakad, Sibylle Nakad and Zeina Sultani. The App was part of the Speed@BDD acceleration program (Batch II). It was soft-launched back in September in AUB and LAU (Beirut). Today it is available in most universities: Balamand, Alba, NDU, AUST, BAU, and LAU (Byblos)

So far, the platform has attracted 2600 students and 320 tutors that have completed over 2,700 tutoring sessions. The numbers are quite impressive for an education-related startup.
